백지영의 7집 앨범을 한마디로 정의하자면 ‘새로운 백지영 찾기’라고 할 수 있다. 이제 한 명의 아티스트이자 목소리 장인으로의 세번째 변화의 발걸음을 내딛는다. 7집의 타이틀곡 “총맞은 것처럼”은 ‘새로운 백지영’이 가야 할 길을 제시하는 곡이다. ‘총맞은 것처럼’이라는 다소 파격적이고 직설적인 제목은 그 동안의 백지영표 잔잔한 발라드와는 상당한 거리감이 느껴지지만 막상 음악 안에 녹아 들어서 백지영의 목소리와 만났을 때 너무나도 백지영스러운 감성을 표현한다.
수많은 장르에서 수백 곡 이상의 곡을 수집하고 녹음해보며 같은 곡도 수없이 다시 녹음해보면서 만들어 낸 7집에서 백지영은 새로우면서도 가장 백지영스럽고, 과거의 영광을 간직하면서도 앞으로 한 걸음 더 낳아가는 이정표를 보여준다. 그녀의 목소리는 대중의 감정선 을 서글프리만치 자극하면서도 시원하게 카타르시스를 만들어 주던 매력을 그대로 유지하면서도 동시에 좀 더 모던하고 날렵하게 새로운 음악의 트랜드를 읽어 낼 수 있도록 180도 변화된 모습을 보여주며, 음악 역시 이에 맞춰 기성의 감성을 유지하는 슬픈 발라드이면서도 동시대의 트랜드를 놓지 않는 비트감 있고 어반한 그루브를 유지한다.
