앨범설명
2001년 발매한 첫 솔로앨범 [As Time Goes By]을 통해 R&B 보컬리스트로써 성공적인 홀로서기를 한 윤미래. 그로부터 1년 뒤인 2002년 발매된 [Gemini]는 보컬이 아닌 랩퍼 윤미래로 돌아온 그녀의 야심작이다. 1집에 이어 박근태가 프로듀싱를 맡았고, 국내에서 내노라하는 힙합 아티스트들과 일본의 유명 아티스트가 참여하며 힙합 매니아들의 화제 속에 앨범은 발매되었다.
윤미래가 직접 작사, 작곡 프로듀싱에 참여한 "G火자"를 시작으로, CB Mass가 참여한 "Me We"를 비롯해 Blu Cantrell의 "The One"을 새롭게 재해석한 "Memories... (Smiling Tears)"는 그녀의 파워풀한 랩과 일본의 보컬리스트 'Sakura'의 소울풀한 목소리의 조화가 원곡을 뛰어넘는 완벽한 콜라보레이션을 선보였다. 이 외에도 바비킴이 피쳐링한 "끝없는 바다 저편에...", 타샤니의 멤버 애니와 함께한 "남자 남자 남자" 등 화려한 참여진 속에서 그녀의 랩은 지루할 틈 없이 다양한 면모로 앨범을 채우고 있다.
하지만 앨범이 발매와 동시에 좋은 반응을 보이고 있을 즈음, 전 소속사로부터 업타운 마약사건을 이유로 5억원 손해배상 소송을 당하며 몇 년간 활동하지 못하는 상황에 놓이게 되었다. 이런 악재에도 불구하고 그녀의 앨범은 힙합 팬들의 꾸준한 사랑을 받으며 현재까지도 손꼽히는 명반으로 불리고 있다. 2011년에는 MTV가 선정한 전 세계 최고의 여성랩퍼 중 TOP 12위에 이름을 올리는 등 여전히 한국을 대표하는 여성 래퍼로서 확실한 위치에 있는 그녀! [Gemini]는 그녀의 자신감 넘치는 독보적인 랩이 거침없이 담겨있는 명반이다.
