‘ALPHA’의 첫 시작이자 CL의 새로운 클래식 [SPICY]
오랫동안 담금질해 온 CL의 첫 솔로 정규 앨범 ‘ALPHA’ 프로젝트가 드디어 가동된다.
첫 시작은 제목에서 느껴지듯이 CL의 매서운 카리스마를 담아낸 ‘SPICY’이다.
대배우 존 말코비치(John Malkovich)의 저음의 내레이션으로 시작되는 ‘SPICY’는 묵직한 베이스 드럼과 함께 등장하는 CL의 날카로운 래핑이 순식간에 온전히 몰입하게 만든다.
‘SPICY’는 ‘나쁜 기집애’ ‘Hello Biches’를 있는 CL의 새로운 클래식을 예고하는 곡으로, 지난 13여년의 시간 동안 CL이라는 캐릭터가 보여 준 태도와 가치관을 상징적으로 보여주는 곡이다.
CL은 걸그룹 2NE1 리더로 시작해 강하고 독립적인 인물의 상징이 된 CL라는 자신의 캐릭터를 ‘SPICY’라는 매운맛 소스에 빗대어 소개한다. ‘Do you have that sauce that is spicy? Made in Korea’라는 존 말코비치의 내레이션처럼 한국에서 태어나 여러 환경에서 성장하고 활동해오며, 여러 편견들을 극복하고, 멈추지 않고 달려온 CL의 강한 자아가 담겨있다.
