2001년 온라인으로 연재 된 소설 '연애 회고록' 을 바탕으로 곽재용 감독과 차태현, 전지현 주연으로 만들어진 영화다. 엽기적인 여대생과 순진한 복학생의 좌충우돌하는 사랑을 담은 로맨틱 코미디영화로 2001년 당시 한국영화 흥행순위 2위를 기록했다.
이와 더불어 우리나라 대표적인 발라드 황제 '신승훈' 이 부른 OST "I Believe" 도 대단한 인기를 끌었는데, 이 곡은 후에 2005년 신승훈이 일본으로 진출하면서 싱글음반으로 내어 오리콘차트 13위를 기록하며 많은 호응을 얻었다. 이 영화의 음악감독으로는 당대 최고의 대중음악 작곡가 김형석이 참여하였는데, "Love & Longing", " 자장가 (Lullaby)", " Lost Memory" 등의 곡에서 클래식 전공인 김형석의 주특기인 스트링 발라드 음악을 여실히 드러내고 있으며, OST앨범 자체가 김형석의 작품집이라 칭해도 무방하다.
신승훈, 김조한, 조규찬, Ueda Masaki 등의 국내,외 최고 아티스트들이 참여하여 음반의 완성도를 높였으며, 로맨스 코미디였던 영화 내용과는 상반적으로 서정적이고 아름다운 선율로 이루어진 OST앨범은 지금도 꾸준히 많은 사람들의 기억속에 자리잡고 있는 앨범이다.
