Stray Kids(스트레이 키즈)가 1월 24일 첫 영어 디지털 싱글 앨범 'Step Out of Clé'(스텝 아웃 오브 클레)를 발매했다.
작사, 작곡, 프로듀싱 역량까지 겸비한 스트레이 키즈. 데뷔 이후 최초로 영어로 가창한 싱글을 발표하고 본격적인 글로벌 음악 시장 진출을 알린다.
신보에는 2019년 10월 발매한 디지털 싱글 'Double Knot'(더블 낫)과 같은 해 12월 공개한 'Clé : LEVANTER'(클레 : 레반터)의 타이틀곡 '바람 (Levanter)'의 영어 버전이 수록됐다.
스트레이 키즈의 음악적 역량을 느낄 수 있는 곡들로 팀 내 프로듀싱 그룹 쓰리라차(3RACHA)가 작사, 작곡에 참여했다.
'Double Knot'은 신발 끈을 두 번 꽉 묶고 나아가겠다는 결연한 포부를 담은 곡이다. 일렉트로닉 트랩 힙합 장르의 강렬한 비트와 스트레이 키즈의 매력적인 보이스가 합쳐져 곡의 분위기를 고조시킨다.
'Levanter'는 'Clé' 시리즈 완결판 'Clé : LEVANTER'의 타이틀곡. JYP엔터테인먼트의 대표 프로듀서 박진영과 실력파 뮤지션 헤르쯔 아날로그(Herz Analog)가 작사 크레디트에 이름을 올렸다.
꿈을 향해 달려온 스트레이 키즈가 지난 여정 속에서 느꼈던 감정들을 가사에 담았고 감미로운 보컬과 부드러운 래핑은 듣는 이들을 매료시키기 충분하다.
지난해 12월 한국어로 가창한 버전이 공개됐을 때 온두라스, 태국에서 아이튠즈 송 차트 1위에 오르고 말레이시아, 사우디아라비아, 러시아 등 7개 지역의 차트 톱 10에 랭크될 정도로 뜨거운 반응을 얻었다.
