SM ENTERTAINMENT와 미국 캐피톨 뮤직 그룹이 손잡고 선보이는 글로벌 프로젝트 SuperM이 첫 미니앨범 'SuperM'을 공개했다.
SuperM은 샤이니 태민, EXO 백현과 카이, NCT 127 태용과 마크, 중국 그룹 WayV 루카스와 텐 등 7명의 뛰어난 아티스트가 뭉친 연합팀으로, 론칭 소식을 발표하자마자 전 세계 K팝 팬들의 이목을 집중시키며 뜨거운 화제를 모은 바 있다.
SuperM이 처음 선보이는 이번 앨범은 타이틀 곡 'Jopping'을 비롯해 총 5곡으로 구성, 멤버들의 탁월한 춤, 보컬, 랩 실력으로 완성된 차원이 다른 음악과 퍼포먼스를 만나기에 충분하다.
또한 미국 캐피톨 뮤직 그룹의 요청으로 이수만 프로듀서가 직접 프로듀싱을 맡았을 뿐 아니라, LDN Noise, 유영진, Kenzie 등 히트메이커들이 함께 작업해 완성도를 높였다.

타이틀 곡 'Jopping'은 ‘Jumping(뛰다)’과 ‘Popping(샴페인 뚜껑을 딸 때 나는 뻥 소리)’을 조합해 만든 ‘파티하자’는 뜻의 신조어로, ‘우리만의 무대를 불태우고 즐기자’라는 메시지를 담고 있다. 도입부의 웅장한 Horn(호른) 사운드와 에너지 넘치는 보컬이 특징인 일렉트릭 팝 장르로 SuperM이 보여주고자 하는 SM만의 뮤직 퍼포먼스, 즉 SMP라는 종합예술 콘텐츠를 보여줄 강렬한 사운드의 곡이다.
더불어 'I Can't Stand The Rain'은 강한 타격감을 선사하는 대북, 한국 전통악기인 아쟁 등 아시안적인 요소를 팝의 작법과 크로스오버해 웅장하고 신비로운 분위기를 자아내는 팝 댄스 곡으로, 가사에는 기나긴 헤매임 끝에 사랑했던 이에게로 돌아가겠다는 남자의 마음을 드라마틱하게 표현했다.
